Once again I have to say a big THANK YOU to all of my fans, friends, and readers who have consistently logged in to see what I have to say about shoes, especially women’s shoes! So thank you, thank you , thank you! Because of all of this activity, my blog was picked up by USA Today who interviewed me a few weeks ago to discuss shoes of course. The online version of the article was published yesterday, but the printed version will be available next week.
Some of the shoe types that we discuss in the article are Flip Flops, UGGs (or boots like the classic UGGs),Foldable Ballet Flats, Platform Pumps, Stilettos, Minimalist Shoes (such as the Vibram Five Fingers and the yoga toe shoes), and the dreaded Rocker Bottom Athletic Shoes (yes, we all know about these fashion-don’ts, don’t we, ladies?).
I’m sure if you’ve been one of my readers during this past year, you know that I’ve discussed each one of these shoes at least once. Sometimes on this blog we talk fashion, function, or both, but one thing that we always do is talk shoes!
So thanks again!
One last thank you for helping this blog reach its goal of 60,000 views in one year, which by the way was last week!
For more foot info, you can always view my website or my podiatry blog. But for shoe info, don’t go anywhere! More is to be revealed…

LA Transit Shoe Show: Ruffles and Bows and Flowers, Oh My!

Another trend at the 2011 Spring-Summer L.A. Transit Shoe Show was the detailing on the shoes such as ruffles, knots, bows, flowers, and rosettes.
This row of vertical ruffles on these platform ankle booties were popular in 2010 too, but in 2011 we’re going to see more of them on heels, booties, and flats, and they will be found in every color, material, and even print!
These satin open toe pumps with the horizontal ruffles by Carlos Santana were divine in almost every color of the rainbow! I personally like the more neutral shades as pictured above, but there were very bright ones as well which can tend to look like bridesmaid shoes (and that could be a good thing if you’re looking for pretty bridesmaid shoes!).
The knotted detail on these platform sandals pictured here felt so soft in a very light cloth material. I suspect these shoes are pretty comfortable as well with the soft material, cushioned platform, and big chunky heel.
Here is another satin open toe platform pump but this time with bows and pleated satin details. I love both colors pictured here.
These Rick Bella platform wedge slingbacks are also in satin and feature a sparkly flower. The neutral shades make these wedges more of an evening shoe, and the cork wedge makes this shoe comfortable!
I know, I know, what are these flats doing in the mix with all of these heels…but with the flower (and leaf) details on these shoes by Caressa, I had to include them!
The pink platform wedge sandals (center) by Lisa for Donald J. Pliner feature two flowers on the straps, and I think these must be one of the most comfortable shoes in this post with the cork wedge and the rubber traction sole.
Rosettes on ankle booties were popular in 2010 also, but I included these suede cuffed platform ankle boots as well because I like the way the cuff and the rosette are combined in one boot.
Well, I hope you liked the ruffles, bows, and flowers…usually people love them or hate them…so which side are you on? Feel free to comment on any of these shoes!
LA Transit Shoe Show: Sparkle and Glitter in 2011

I have a couple of more posts coming soon regarding the LA Transit Shoe Show I attended last week, more on trends for shoes in 2011, more on the upcoming Spring-Summer 2011 shoes, and more of my favorite photos! I hope you are enjoying the pics of the new shoes as much as I am!
To kick off the weekend, tonight I’m showcasing some of sparkly, glittery, and flashy heels that will be available soon for the spring and summer. Enjoy!
I like the multiple ankle straps and the detailing…what do you think? Yay or nay? I wish I could have tried them on though. I would like to see how comfortable they are in the ball of the foot. There is not much padding or cushioning…
These sparkly strappy sandals by Carlos Santana were very pretty, but I questioned the sales rep on their comfort because the straps are round, like a rope, not flat against your skin like most straps on sandals. I felt the straps with my fingers to see for myself, and I still question the comfort while walking. It seems to me like the straps may rub the skin and irritate, possibly causing a blister or abrasion. Of course, I wanted to try them on for myself to be sure, but darn! of course they only have size 6 or 7 on display at the shoe shows…so I will have to wait until I see them in the store to try them on! Once I do, I will definitely report back on this blog about how the straps feel. (If any of you know first hand, please feel free to comment on this!)
OMG, as I reported in a recent post, Naughty Monkey had two of my favorite shows in the entire show but they are too new to be photographed…so again, I will have to get back to you on those! But these platform wedge sandals with the sparkles on the wedges themselves also stood out from the rest. The sparkles here are beaded detailing, so I gave them a thumbs up for originality, and they do look comfortable with the cusioning and the platform wedge.
These platform sandals by Chinese Laundry were also stand-outs in the sea of shoes at the show! Although they are very high, they do seem comfortable with the cushioning, the platform, and the cork heel. Hmm…gold or black? Decisions, decisions…
These peep toe pumps by Paris Hilton with the sparkly bows were very pretty and looked comfortable with the padding in the insole. Notice the pink padding in the ball area of the foot in each of their shoes.
Yes, you have seen this photo before (in the Animal Print post), but now I want to showcase the glitter platform pumps by Rick Bella Shoes/Wah Lei Footwear. They are already taking orders and selling out of these as fast as they can get them! Each of the silver, gold, and pewter glitter pumps are beautiful…and once again, I wish I could have tried them on!!! Soon enough I will!
And last but not least, gold and black glitter platform pumps by Carlos Santana. The combination of black and gold (kinda reminds me of the Steelers song, Black & Yellow, Black & Yellow…) works in this shoe!
Well, I hope you got a little taste for what is going to be hot this year in the spring & summer. Enjoy!
Please comment on your faves or your least faves!
LA Transit Shoe Show: Bright Bold Colors Trending in Heels in 2011

Bright, bold colors! That’s what you’ll see this summer in heels. Color blocking in shoes (as well as dresses, but that’s not my area of expertise…so back to the shoes!) is included too.
Bright, bold colors were everywhere at the shoe show this week and along with these colors were all kinds of embellishments from metal studs to jewels to crystals to spikes, just see below in the photos I took:
Blue will be one of the hot colors for sure! It was everywhere, all shades from the royal blue above to the turquiose blue below…and all the shades in between.
Both of these Penny Loves Kenny shoes above and below use some unique color combos in their color blocking: turquiose blue with kelly green and hot pink with bright orange. It might not sound good, but they sure do look good! And the metal studs on the toe adds a little something extra.
(It may look like red and pink in the photo, but trust me in person it was bright orange and hot pink.)
These heels by Enigma use some interesting color combos too: pink/baby blue/dark yellow, turquoise/hot pink/white, and dark yellow/lavendar. For the summertime, with the right dress or shorts outfit, they could look super cute!
These ‘Remi’ slingbacks by Lisa for Donald J. Pliner are a little more neutral than some of the previous examples, but still have the bright blue blended in with the light grey/dark grey on the upper of the shoe, so I wanted to include them. What do you think? Do you like the blending of colors in this shoe?
These wedges are also by Enigma and again this company uses some bright colors to highlight the details on their shoes. Here we see bright blue and dark yellow combined with a neutral wedge heel, and the bright colors are highlighting the light colored laces.
And last but not least is this pair of turquiose heels by Naughty Monkey with jewel embellishments which, I must add, looked much better in person… and I also have to admit that my FAVORITE pair of shoes at the show were by Naughty Monkey, but they are brand new so I was not able to take a photo of them…so, as soon as they are out on the market, I will surely write about them and show them to you!
Well, this was just one of the trends in heels for Summ2011 that I saw at the show…I will be posting a few more this week!
I hope you enjoyed this little preview of the summer heels coming to a store near you soon enough!
Red Carpet Shoes at The Golden Globes

Shoes from The Red Carpet at 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards that were noteworthy…from an actress wearing two different color shoes to a very pregnant star in high platform shoes…Check out these shoes and tell me what you liked or didn’t like about them!
Helena Bonham Carter was wearing two different colored shoes with her Vivienne Westwood floral print cocktail dress:
Olivia Wilde was wearing spiked gold platform Christian Louboutins under her full Marchesa ball gown:
What did you think of Heidi Klum wearing this multi-colored silk guaze flowing halter dress by Marc Jacobs with the super high slit and the Marc Jacobs red platform heels with the gold strap?
I think Halle Barry’s dress was more shocking than her shoes…she is wearing a provocative black corset mini dress by Nina Ricci with a long sheer train and bare metallic sandals:
What do you think of January Jones in that skin baring red Versace dress and black patent leather Versace platform pumps? Again, the dress is much more noteworthy than the shoes in this case.
Meghan Fox wore a pale pink Giorgio Armani Privé evening grown with an asymmetrical Swarovski adorned strap and paired it with Brian Atwood shoes. I have to admit I like these shoes a lot!

Well, what can I say about Tilda Swinton dressed in a pale Jil Sandler dress (?) with pale pink pumps that hasn’t already been said? Let’s just leave it at that! Feel free to add your own comments below:
And last but not least, check out the metallic platform pumps by Casadei that Jane Krakowski is wearing while several months pregnant? I know it’s The Golden Globes, but come on! Every podiatrist in the country will say NOT to do this (and probably every Ob/Gyn and every other MD/DO as well) due to risk of falling and injuring yourself and the baby. When you are this pregnant, your center of gravity is shifted, so walking in high heels is even more tricky than usual, so ladies PLEASE don’t follow Jane’s example!

I hope you enjoyed the red carpet shoes in this post!
