Go Barefoot any Sunday in June!
Churches are invited to join us for National Barefoot Week and go barefoot on Barefoot Sunday, June 5th (or any other Sunday in June).
Do you think your church would do it?
Donate and collect shoes to help Soles4Souls provide needed footwear to people in need around the globe. Imagine the dangers of navigating through trecherous terain or sewage strewn streets without a pair of shoes.
What is Barefoot Week?
Barefoot Week is a weeklong series of events encourages public participation in one of the hundreds of concurrent shoe drives, fun runs & walkathons, retail trade-in events, concerts, festivals and more.
What is Barefoot Sunday?
As a part of Barefoot Week, Barefoot Sunday is design to encourage religious organizations to get involved by leaving their shoes at the alter inconjunction with a church wide shoe collection. Barefoot Sunday helps encourage churches around the country to take off their shoes and go barefoot to raise awareness for the more than 1.5 billion people worldwide who do not own a single pair of shoes. This Spring, more than 150,000 churches will be asked to join in and get involved by taking off their shoes for one Sunday. As part of this powerful movement, congregants can bring their new or gently worn shoes to church or donate funds to Soles4Souls to help put shoes on the feet on the 300 million children around the world who are barefoot.
How do I get Involved?
It’s easy to participate. Just sign-up on the contact page and the Soles4Souls staff will send you collection boxes, brochures, a banner and donation cards for your event. Then head to the resources area and download all the materials you need for your event. We have everything you need for a successful event!
Soles4Souls has created everything your religious organization will need for this simple, but meaningful effort. By collecting shoes, your congregation can make a difference.
Thank you for your help.

What is the One Walk?
Today, May 14th, is the day that Soles4Soulsis getting people all across the country to walk (or run) for children in need of shoes around the world. Individuals as well as teams can walk and raise awareness and money for the One Walk mission. All of the net proceeds from the registration fees is dedicated to help deliver shoes to one of the 300 million children and untold adults around the world without shoes. Individuals and teams also have been raising additional funds to help send shoes to people in need. Top fundraisers will also win a spot on a distribution trip to Haiti!
Remember, one dollar equals one pair of shoes to someone in need.
Why are shoes important?
Soles4Souls explains on their website: “Footwear is a first step in helping people in impoverished areas live healthy, productive lives. Footwear can help eliminate the spreading of diseases through the foot as well as help children obtain an education – as many schools have footwear requirements to attend.”
You can read more about One Walk walks around the country on Soles4Soul’s Facebook page.
Every dollar raised provides one pair of shoes!
Here are a few events from around the country: NYC Nashville, TN Manitowoc, WI
And for those of you who did not have a One Walk event to attend in your area, you can still donate and contribute to this cause of helping Soles4Souls reach their goal of giving 11 million pairs of shoes to those in need in 2011 by visiting the donation page on their website.
Note: Our podiatry office has donated over 500 pairs of shoes to this cause since the tsunami in Japan in March…and our shoe drive is still going strong!

Royal Wedding Shoes

Well, it’s been over a week since the Royal Wedding, and people are still talking about what the royal family was wearing on Kate Middleton’s & Prince William’s wedding day! And as you know, we are only talking shoes on this blog…so here they are: The Royal Wedding Shoes!
For her wedding day, Kate Middleton wore custom-made shoes by Alexander McQueen‘s Sarah Burton and her design team, which were made to match the lace wedding dress (also by the British designer Sarah Burton). These shoes were made with “ivory duchesse satin with lace hand-embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework,” according to the Royal Web site.
And although it’s only a little over a week since the wedding, you can already purchase shoes similar to her pair at the online designer shopping site Net-a-porter, which is offering exclusive lace-covered nude rounded toe satin pumps by Alexander McQueen. The heels are 4 ½-inches high and retail for $995. For more fashion-forward footwear, the site also offers an exclusive pair of 6-inch white silk-satin heels with a bold white and gold resin leaf heel by Alexander McQueen that cost $1,675.
And what about Pippa Middleton’s shoes? InStyle.com has the scoop that Pippa wore the “Lynn” silver leather sandal with diamante detailing by London footwear designer Aruna Seth. “We were truly honored to see Pippa wearing our gorgeous Lynn silver sandals on the Royal Wedding day, a great choice to match her beautiful Temperley dress,” Seth told InStyle exclusively. “Pippa looked truly stunning and was the most perfect bridesmaid for Kate. We hope she chooses more shoes from Aruna Seth as she becomes even more of a global style icon.” InStyle also reports that the designer sent ten pairs of shoes to Pippa before the wedding. The shoes Pippa chose, shown, are available online at ArunaSeth.com for approximately $810.
Another pair of royal wedding shoes that deserves mentioning is the sky high pair of custom-made Christian Louboutins that Victoria Beckham wore…while almost seven months pregnant! (Not a good idea for expectant mothers…in fact, it is quite dangerous!)
Another bit of shoes-worthy talk is the pair of shoes that Kate wore as she departed for her honeymoon with Prince William. These patent leather wedges by London chain LK Bennett are called the “Greta wedge,” but they were recently discontinued…until now! According to sources in the industry, ”The Kate” will return to the LK Bennett lineup in June.
Well, as we can see, both the royal family and their guests were wearing the finest designer shoes (and dresses) to this royal affair…and we just can’t get enough of it, can we? (OK, maybe some of us can!!!) And I’m sure that Kate’s shoes will get more and more attention as she shows off more of her styles.

“All shoes, all the time!”
