There are sure to be tons of Top Ten lists of the year 2010 out there this week, and since we’re talking shoes…here is the list (and photos) of
The Top Ten Runway Shoes of 2010
as compiled by Footwear News and Women’s Wear Daily. Just a little warning: some, if not all, of these shoes are a little over the top for most of us! But as you may know, runway looks are just that…they are over the top, they are for the runway, and they are meant to be that way to get the attention of the audience, the buyers, the retailers, and the public. And often the versions sold in the stores are a watered down version of what we see on the runways. So tell me what you think of these shoes, in concept such as the platforms, the detailing, the colors, the heel height, etc.
Alexander McQueen’s RTW Fall 2010 Collection
Barbara Bui’s fur lined buckled platform boots
Chanel’s RTW Spring 2010 Collection
John Paul Gaultier’s sequin pumps over platform wedges
Jimmy Choo’s strappy sandals with Lucite heel and platform
Louis Vuitton’s RTW Fall 2010 Collection
Nicholas Kirkwood’s platform booties
Pierre Hardy’s velvet and peacock feather booties
Prada’s RTW Spring 2010 Collection
Proenza Schouler’s carved platform wedge sandals with embroidery
To see Footwear News’ slide show of these shoes on the runway, click here.
Just my two cents on these runway shoes: my favorites are the Chanel clogs and the Louis Vuitton pumps, but I have to give a special shout out to the Proenza wedges too!
Happy New Year, shoe lovers!!!

We’re only a few days into winter, but it seems as if everyone is freezing, snowed in, or somehow affected by this cold weather. (Even in Southern California, it’s been cold and rainy! And, well, we’re just not used to that! Haha!) So how do we keep warm, keep our feet healthy, and still look good at the same time? Well…let me show you! I’ve been on the lookout for the warmest, coziest, furriest boots currently for sale, and here are some great finds!
Asos ‘White Wooly’ shearling black leather boots on sale for $117.23 at Asos.com
2011 Christian Louboutin High Heel Furry Boots
The Jimmy Choo studded UGG Boots! ($795 at Bergdorf Goodman)
Guess Obelize faux fur boots $157.50 at Macy’s

Seychelles Cryptic Ankle Boots $150.95 at Zappos
MICHAEL by Michael Kors ‘Parker Bootie’ in black suede $198 at Zappos
BCBGMAXAZRIA Boots $159.30 at Bluefly
Daniblack Ian OTK boots on sale for $234 at Zappos
The Cool People Varghese $179 at Zappos
Gucci white wool knit and leather ‘Lockhart’ wedge boots $716 at Bluefly
Dolce & Gabbana brown leopard white patent trim tall rain boots $420 at Bluefly
Burberry Mid House Check Weather Boots $395 at Zappos
Jambu Cruise boots $173 at Zappos
I know that some of these may be a little over the top for some of us, but there is definitely something for everyone here…and in every price range too!
And remember in this harsh winter weather to keep your feet warm and dry to prevent foot problems such as Athlete’s foot, bad foot odor, and other bacterial and fungal infections. Just because your feet are hidden away from the world for a few months does not mean that they should be neglected. Show your feet some winter love and put them in some cozy, comfy boots!

In honor of Christmas, I am sporting my brand new Shane and Shawn KK red python peep toe pumps from Endless.com!

Here are some examples of really red shoes to show some Christmas spirit today!
So whether you’re just going to mom and dad’s house for dinner or going to a glitzy holiday party, you can still arrive in style! This is one of those occasions where you can wear your super high to the sky stilettos if you want to because you won’t be standing in long lines or walking for blocks! Most likely, you’ll walk from your front door to your car, then your car into someone’s home, then do a lot of sitting while eating, drinking, and socializing…unless you’re the one cooking the big meal…in that case, wear your flats while cooking and save your heels until the cooking is done and you’re ready to sit and mingle with your family and other guests!
Happy Holidays, shoe lovers!!!
Last but not least, what red shoe discussion would be complete without a pair of red shoes with red soles: Christian Louboutin pumps!
Are you wearing red shoes today? If you are, I would love to see them! Please feel free to comment and post your own photos of your red shoes!

Keep Your Feet Warm & Dry In This Rain (while still looking cute!)

As I was making house calls yesterday in the pouring rain (by choice! I am not asking you to play your violin for me!), it was essential for me to keep dry! I had to decide ahead of time, what am I going to wear to keep my feet warm and dry all day, while stepping in all those puddles??? This is what I came up with, and it worked!
The best 3 things about these boots were (1) they’re comfortable enough to wear all day trekking back and forth up steep driveways and up and down stairs, (2) I could fit my orthotics in them, adding to the comfort, and (3) most importantly, they kept my feet warm and dry even in a 3 inch puddle!
Of course, an easy choice would be a rain boot. And lately, rain boots have come a long way, baby! Check out these stylish rain boots!
And then there are the combination rain boots that are more like a cross between a rubber rain boot and a stylish boot, but your feet will definitely stay warm, dry, and happy in them!
I just want to show you one more style: ankle rain boots! I must admit I kinda like them!
It’s so important for the health of your feet to keep them dry in this harsh winter weather to avoid foot odor, foot fungus, and bacterial infections. Who needs to deal with that when we have shopping to do for the holidays???
So…would I try them out? Of course!!! I love trying new shoes!!! (and boots and booties and …)
But do YOU like these rain shoes and boots? Do you think they’re cute? Do you think you can still look cute or sexy while keeping warm and dry in the rain?
Another New Shoe For You: The Flatform!

Yes, you heard it right! It’s the flatform, not the platform!
The flatform is really just a flat sandal elevated on a platform sole. This geisha-inspired look is basically one of those styles that you either love or you don’t. And it’s another shoe that is trying to compensate for the painful high heels that have been so prevalent in past seasons. (Remember yesterday’s post on the Mid-Heel?) Women are asking for change. Women are wanting the height that the high heel gives but without the foot pain associated with them, so the shoe makers and designers are trying to come up with different ways to solve this problem and give women what they want…but in a stylish shoe. So take a look at these examples and tell me if they accomplished that goal!
One more example I want to show you is a look from the 70′s that was part of the inspiration for this new trend: the wooden wedges. Remember these?
So tell me what you think…do you like this look? Or is it too fashion-forward?
Footwear News also took a poll of women of all ages and asked them if they thought that this look was a Hit or a Miss? Their results: 1 in 4 women said that this look was a Hit. I know you can do the math, but I still want to say it: that leaves 3 out of 4 women saying that this look is a Miss!
I have to agree with the majority for these reasons: 1. Women who love their high heels do just that…they love their high heels and getting them to switch to a flat, even if it is a flatform, is not easy! It’s going to be a hard job to convert high heel lovers to liking this look. 2. Women who love their flats don’t really care too much about adding extra height to themselves. They are more concerned with comfort. 3. The small percentage of women who will try this look (maybe 25%, or less, in my opinion) may like it or not like it once they try out the shoes. So I say that Footwear News and their poll were right on with this one!
On another note, would I try them out myself? Sure! I love trying new shoes!
But do YOU like these shoes? Do YOU like this trend? Or do YOU still prefer your high heels (or flat flats)?
This Shoe Could Be The Answer For You!

So you like your high heels but they’re uncomfortable…and you don’t really want to wear flats, but you do it anyway to try to avoid the foot pain that you always get in your high heels…but the flats are uncomfortable too! Ugh!
What’s a girl to do???
Not to mention, you want to look sexy or at least cute, right? Ladies, the shoe makers have been listening to your complaints, and they are presenting you with the answer to your prayers…taaaa daaaaaaaa…
THE MID-HEEL SHOE!!!
These are not your classic kitten heels either. Mid heels are exactly that: mid-way between a flat and a high heel, assuming most high heels are about 4″ or more. Mid heels are usually in the 2-3″ range. And the heels of mid heels can be stiletto-style (as in a kitten heel) or they can be squared and chunky as seen above in the Marni examples. Mid heels can also be any style of women’s dress shoe too, such as pumps, peep toe pumps, sandals, oxfords, ankle booties, and even boots. Of course, the idea is to lower the heel to lessen foot pain that many women feel in the ball area of their foot due to the foot sliding forward in the shoe, thus placing more of the body weight on the ball of the foot as opposed to the heel area as it should be. The other main idea is to keep the look of a high heel. And I would also like to point out that some women are not comfortable in flat shoes with no arch suupport. A slightly elevated heel places the foot in a more balanced position than a completely flat shoe does. (This may be a little too technical, but in a flat shoe with no arch support, the foot tends to over-pronate which leads to heel pain.)
Let’s look at a few more examples in different styles and colors.
This shoe has a 3.15″ heel and can be found on Gucci.com for $525.00
These Gucci sandals actually have a 3.3″ heel and are on sale for $329.00 (originally priced at $475.00) on Gucci.com
A very similar mid-heel open-toe wedge pump with a 2.2″ heel is listed on the Gucci.com website for $195
The Filippa Scott 2010 Collection can be found on their website with a price range of $287.50 – $303.05
These pumps have a 2 7/8″ heel and are on sale for $403.20 (retail value $560.00) at bluefly.com
These sandals can be found on sale for $117.23 (original price $241.36) at Asos
So tell me what you think…do you have your faves?
(I’m always taking polls to see what the women want in shoes!)
Do you like them? Do you like this trend? Or do you still prefer your high heels (or flat flats)?
Shoe Trends Part 2: Like Them, Love Them or Hate Them? (Featuring @NineWest Shoes)

Shoe Trends: Part II
(as projected by Nine West)
[Note: Part 1 posted yesterday lists Trends 1-7]
8. Metallics: Whether you’re talking gold, silver, copper, or bronze, the metallics have been a hot trend in women’s shoes lately. I think this one can be tricky because unless you use leather or other quality materials, these shoes can look cheap. So just be careful of that. I have one pair made out of leather that I love, with the right outfit of course.
SYDNEY peep toe bootie in pewter leather on sale for $49.99
9. Menswear: I must admit I’m so glad to see these shoes making a comeback! I have always loved this style, especially the high heeled oxford. I also love (and blogged about) the high heeled wingtip pumps. I think they always look classy. They can be worn in the office all day and are actually pretty comfortable. Again, with the laces, you can wear your orthotics which always helps.
CASSIE peep toe oxford $130.00
10. Caged Look: These are basically strappy sandals with tons of straps or pumps with tons of cutout details (like the one below) that give the illusion of tons of straps. I like the look. I think it’s very sexy, and can add a lot to an outfit.
NOLETTA round toe caged bootie $99.99
11. Mid-Heel: Expect to see a lot of these in the spring 2011 collections. They are shoes with about a two-inch heel, like a kitten heel but not necessarily the same shape as a kitten heel. Some of them are shaped like kitten heels but some are very squared and chunky too. The shoe makers are listening to women’s complaints regarding the inability to wear the super high heels, and this is the result. I know many women who hate kitten heels and mid-heels (and flats), but hey there’s a little bit of something for everyone, right? I wear both flats and heels, so I say yes to the mid-heel.
BAIL pointed toe pump with low 2″ heel in tan suede on sale for $49.99
12. The Blues: This includes all shade of dark blue (navy, denim, and dark blue). If you wear a lot of navy suits to an office, I think they would be great for you. I don’t wear much navy, so I can’t see myself spending the money on dark blue shoes. But that’s just me. I think this shoe below is beautiful, and I could see myself buying it in a black, gray, or camel color.
VERBINIA navy suede platform pump on sale for $49.99
13. Neutrals: We’re talking camel, tan, tobacco, natural leather. I have always loved these colors although I only own a few. I think it’s great that they’re trending right now just in time for spring. I’ve seen a lot of these in the spring 2011 collections already, so be on the lookout for these soon.
MARGERITA high heel sandal in tobacco leather on sale for $69.99
14. Animal Prints: Leopard, zebra, and pony prints are hot right now! You can see them in everything from flats to pumps to boots and everything in between! (Purses are included too, although I’m glad that the cow print and zebra print purses are out, because I never liked those. And what women wants to be associated with a cow anyway???)
SMOOCH round toe leather pump on sale for $69.99
So tell me what you think…do you have your faves?
(I’m always taking polls to see what the women want in shoes!)
Do you love any of them? Do you like all of the m? Do you hate any of them?
Dedicated to your foot health and to your shoes,
